Condensation occurs when warm air contacts cold surfaces or when there’s too much humidity in your home. Humidity creates water, which collects as droplets on a cold surface, including glass. This is especially common in winter when your central heating system comes on in the cooler hours of the mornings and evenings.
Low-E glass is coated with a microscopic layer of silver that reflects radiant solar energy while permitting visible light to pass through the glass, providing more comfort and lower energy costs.
In addition to improving your home’s appearance, replacing old windows can also reduce heating and cooling costs. Much energy is lost by single-paned windows through the glass and air leaks around loose-fitting components. The best windows include double thermal panes with argon between the layers and Low-E coatings to substantially reduce heating/cooling costs and increase efficiency.
